5 Ways to Manage Stress

Hi readers,I have been working so hard at work over that past month, and I am barely feeling like my head is above water. At times I feel overwhelmed and just worried that I won’t get my work done. Every time I look at the clock, it seems like the day is flying by but I still have piles and piles of work to do.This is what inspired me to write this post. In our busy lives there are many things that can cause stress. The thing that I have to mange the most in order to reduce my stress level is my work. Everyday I have to just sit back and remind myself that I am only one person, and that my days may be long, but I know I will get the work done.I hope these tips will help you!

1. Take a step back from the stressor

It is important to not avoid your stressor, because it will not go away until the situation is resolved. It is best to just take a step back and do something else. Your stressor may be work (like me), or it may be bills, children, or even relationships. It may be hard to step away from these things but more times than not, stepping away will give you a new perspective when you return from taking a few minutes to yourself.

2. Laugh a little

As the saying goes, “Turn that frown upside-down.” I have read in so many books and heard so many people say that laughter and smiling makes you feel better. When you laugh or smile, there is tension that is released because most people hold a lot of their stress in their face. So smile often.

3. Get active

Research has proven that exercising is a mood changer. From my personal experience, when I exercise I feel so much better physically and mentally. That’s why I feel that exercising is a stress reliever, since it benefits your body and your mind.Before I started working from home, I worked at an office building, and when my work load would increase, I would step away from my desk and take a 10 minute walk outside. You would not believe how refreshing and mentally healing that was for me. You can take a walk, swim, dance, run, or jog, even if it’s a quick 10 minutes. Trust me, it helps.

4. Quiet Time

This step is similar to step one, except this step is more about meditating and praying. You are still stepping away from your stressor, but your not necessarily doing something distracting. Instead you are going to a quiet place where you can close your eyes, sit still, take deep breaths, and meditate on your mental health. You can take this time to pray and to just get into a peaceful place.Last Step….

5. Social Support

I know many times when we are going through something, we may be embarrassed or just feel like we can get through it on our own. Although this may be true, it never hurts to talk to a family member or friend about what is causing you to become stressed. A simple phone call or even meeting up with that person can help take your mind off the stressor and even just give you relief letting your emotions off your chest.Always make sure you talk to someone you can trust and someone who can help you feel validated about your feelings.Remember, feel free to leave a comment or send me an email:)Until next time!

My Hair Mishap

Hi ladies!

So last week I went to the salon to get my hair done. I went in asking for rose gold balayage but……….let’s just say it was a disaster. My hair was literally a mixture of purple, red, gold, yellow and orange. As I washed my hair a few more times, the color faded more and more and became more and more orange!!!I was so upset but I just accepted it.

I went 1 whole week with a hair color I hated. I had to wear my hair in a bun (which is not bad) but considering I paid a significant amount to get my hair done, I should have been comfortable with styling my hair any way.

I called the manager to speak about my concerns and they kindly offered me a refund and the option of fixing my hair. However, I just no longer felt comfortable with leaving my hair in the hands of the stylists that messed my hair up. She actually also told me that the way the stylist did my hair was not right and that she should have explained the process to me from the beginning. I was so disappointed. 😔

So the moral of my story is to be very carful when letting someone style/color your hair. Ask as many questions about the process so that you are sure that the stylist will be able to fulfill your hair dreams. I have definitely learned from this experience and will be extra cautious when thinking of a hair color change. I really hope this has not happened to any of you before. It is really an awful feeling and you just don’t feel like yourself when your hair does not look right.


4 Steps to Having a Great Morning

Hi readers,I thought it would be a good idea to give you all 4 steps to having a great morning, which ultimately leads to a great day!For most of my life I have always been a morning person. I was always the 1st person awake in my house and I would just sit and wait for everyone else to wake up (sometimes impatiently waiting). But as a got older and became a mother, the mornings began to be hectic and it felt like there was never enough time in the morning to get out of the door on time. Often the hectic morning would lead to a hectic rest of day. Then I would be the cranky, tired, exhausted mommy, when I got home from work.Here are 4 simple steps that you can follow to help you have a great morning, and have a better day.alarm-clock-2132264_1280

1. Set Your Intentions

Your mindset is the key to starting your morning off right, so before you go to bed meditate and pray about getting a good nights rest and envision yourself waking up in the morning bright eyed and bushy tailed.

2. Think Proactive Instead of Reactive

In the first 10 minutes after waking up, pray your day in and have some brief “me” time, instead of automatically going into a state of mind of getting something done. Such as checking emails, checking your work schedule, reviewing your To-do list, or having deep conversations that cause your mind to become reactive. Instead, meditate for 5 minutes, read a magazine, or even sit and listen to soothing music.

3. Accomplish Two Things Within the First 2 hours After Waking Up

In this busy thing we call life, there are so many things in a single day that we have to accomplish. Instead of thinking of everything on your To-do list, just pick two things that you can feasibly complete within the first 2 hours of your day. Most people that are productive always have a list of things that they know must be completed that day, so it is best to select two items on the list that you are sure you can complete within that time frame. When those two tasks are completed, you will feel a sense of accomplishment and that will put you in good mood.Make sure to eliminate any distractions and focus on those two tasks, even if they are simple.

4. Plan Your Day the Best You Can

As difficult as it may sound, stay in the moment and try not to replay what happened yesterday, what will happen tomorrow, or what may go wrong today. Grow Through What You Go Through

I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel and the weekend is almost here!So I had a few things on my mind this week and I wanted to share a little bit of it here with all of you.I feel that most people have some sort of struggle that they face, either daily or maybe just seasonly, and it just makes me think of how each struggle makes us all stronger people. When you go through a certain season in your life it is an opportunity for growth. I believe change and growth go hand in hand. When you choose to grow through what you go through, you breakthrough to a new level in your life.I have personally experienced many challenges that really tested my faith. Change Your Mindset, Change Your Life

Take a moment and think about this

Hello again Ladies!I know it has been a few days since I posted anything.So today I wanted to talk about how changing your mindset, can change your life.As I shared before, I became a mother at the young age of 19. I was faced with this life changing experience, but I still had my mind set on success.Being a young mother was very difficult. I did not have a lot of family support, and I had to pretty much make it on my own. Also, since I didn’t finish my first year of college before getting prego, I did not have a college degree.As some of you may know, getting a good paying job without a degree is pretty tough. So anyway, after my son turned 6 weeks old, I found a job through an agency that paid me a decent amount and I was able to survive and take care of my child.As the next few months went by, I felt in my spirit that I was worth more, and that even though I had a child and didn’t go to college right after high school, I could accomplish so much more. I knew I was not defined by my circumstance.So I began looking at different trade schools (although personally I no longer endorse trade schools-I’ll post something about that at another time) and found the courage to enroll in the online school. I actually enrolled on my son’s 1st birthday:)So for the next 2 years, I balanced being a mother, working full time and completing my online school work. Yay! Summer of 2011 I graduated (I was so excited to walk across that stage with my cap and gown and with all the other graduates.)I believe if I would have taken the defeated mindset, I would not be where I am now. I now work at a very well established Health Care Provider with well known recognition.If you are at a place in your life where you feel that you are stagnant or that your dreams will not come true, I encourage you to change your mindset. When you were a child, did you ever think about what the future held for your life?Well I did, and I can honestly say that I didn’t exactly see my life as it is now. That’s not to say that I am not satisfied with my life, but there are some things that have happened along the way that I never expected to experience.I am a young wife, and a mother of 4 beautiful children (two boys and two girls), but my life did not always look this.I was actually considered a teen mom, because I had my 1st son at 19 years old. As you can imagine, I had to grow up fast, considering there was a human being that I had to take care of. I feel like when my son was born, my life really began. I had to figure out a way to make my relationship work, how I was going to provide for my little one, and what being a mom was really like. I had to grow up fast and make real life decisions.Like some people may say, life dealt me many challenges along the way, but I am happy to say that my life right now is truly blessed. There are many struggles that I had to overcome, but with Jesus, my family and my friends, I am at place in my life that I am happy and successful.This is what inspired me to begin blogging. I want to be an example to other women and girls, and I want to encourage them (through my life experiences) that no matter where life takes you, you CAN overcome and make your dreams come true.Stay tuned for more post about my path of life and for beauty/fashion tips!
