Mind-Mapping to Success

So have you heard the news? Your success is within reach! Wow I’m so excited for you! Are you excited?

Are there seasons in your life when you feel like nothing is going right? You feel out of luck, out of touch with society and you feel like you’re losing at life? Well there’s a way to fix these feelings. And I’m going to share a simple tip with you.

When we have a vision, dream, hope and/or desire, we usually want that particular thing to happen quickly. We want it easy. We want it handed to us. We may put in a little bit of work, but if the results don’t come soon enough, we give up. Does this sound about right?

Well the truth is, even as a life coach and mentor, I experienced these emotions before I reached the place I’m at now. One of the tools I used is mind-mapping.

The benefits of mind-mapping are amazing. I use the tool of mind-mapping with myself and my clients because it is a procedure that helps you create plans and strategies for your success. Mind-mapping is also a visual thinking tool to structure information to help you analyze and create new ideas. You simply transfer the vision in your mind onto paper and it becomes a tangible tool you can see and use everyday.

So instead of just having the ideas (vision, goal, dream, desire) in my mind, I actually documented my them.  At that point it changed from an idea to a commitment, to an intention, then finally to completion.

Now, I used to make New Year resolutions, for the longest time I thought they truly worked. However, I always found myself making excuses for not sticking with the resolution or I simply gave up if the change didn’t come quick enough. Living in a fast paced society makes us want things convenient and quick.

As I continued to fail at reaching my goals and living out my dreams, I knew there had to be another way. I was seeing so many successful people around me so I knew there was a system that worked.

Ahah! My answer was to create a vision board (dream board, inspiration board) and to never give up. YES! what a world of a difference this made for my life. If you don’t already know, Oprah loves creating vision boards. We all know that she is very successful, so I really knew I was going in the right direction.

In creating my vision boards I recognized an immediate shift in my thinking, self-esteem, confidence and overall belief in myself and the things that I could achieve. I created a vision board for my career, health, family, finances, faith and businesses.

After creating my boards, I wrote down a plan for each goal. I meditated about my goals everyday, and if I felt like I was losing hope, I would pray and read words of affirmation. I shifted my thinking and I spoke success over my life.

Yes, you have to put in the work if you want to see the success. Yes, mind-mapping works and will make you successful, but it doesn’t work on it’s own. Don’t let giving up be an option.

Now once you’ve created your vision for your life by mind-mapping, it is important to share your vision with a trusted source who can cheer you on and pray over your vision with you. Now if you don’t really have anyone close to you that can support you, then find a sisterhood community where you can join a group of empowered like-minded women. They are sure to help you along your journey.

These 3 Things are Blocking Your Success

Hello Friends!

As we approach the end of the 1st month of the year, there are a few things we need to remember. I want to share 3 mindset blocks that are hindering your success.

When we start the New Year, we often set a ton of goals, intentions, resolutions etc. for ourselves. However, as the months roll by, we may lose our momentum. We may lose our motivation. If we don’t see results right away, we may just GIVE UP! So I’m here to help you get through all of those negative feelings and thoughts.

Working as a life coach and mentor, I have learned so much about individuals and how each person’s mind processes information differently. But one thing I realized, is that these 3 things that I am going to share with you, are similar in a lot of individuals.

So let’s get started!!!

The 1st common mindset block is the phrase “I Can’t!”-Remember that the things we speak over our life, often become our reality. It is best to change this self-talk to “I’m getting there” or “I will find a way” or “I know I can.” Once you start speaking positivity over your particular situation, you will reach the phrase “I’m doing it!”

I teach my kids this tool also. Throughout the day they may ask me to help them with something, so if I know they are capable of completing the task, then I tell them to “try.” As I teach them this tool they usually say “I can’t.” I refuse to allow my kids to grow a giving up mentality so I tell them that they should try. 9 times out of 10 they are able to complete the task. At that point they are overjoyed and empowered that they accomplished something that they once thought was too difficult. On the flip side, if after trying, they are still having difficulty then they can use another resource (which is me at the time) for help. This leads to the next mindset block.

The 2nd common mindset block is the phrase “I have to do it alone”Wow I had a difficult time breaking this mindset, years ago. I was raised to be independent so as I entered adulthood, I felt that every situation I was in, I would have to go through alone. If I wanted to achieve a certain goal, I thought, “I’m on my own.” If I was suffering emotionally, I would tell myself, “No one will understand, I’ll have to deal with this alone.” But then I grew my faith, I became more self-aware, I made investments for my self development and I become better. To get out of a negative mindset I connected with people that helped me grow and that taught me that I don’t have to do life alone.

Oh what a World of a difference this made for me, and I know it can change your life too. If at this moment you feel like you have to do life alone, I promise you don’t. I know! sometimes the people close to use are not the best support, so find a community of women that you can link up with that can help you through life. We all need people on our side for the ups and the downs, the celebrations and victories, and even when our success seems so far out of reach.

Today, I encourage you to remove this mindset block from your thought process. I know you will see a change. You deserve what the Lord has in store for you.

The 3rd common mindset block is the phrase “I’m not worthy or I don’t deserve this.”-The feeling of worthiness is something that we create in ourselves. The way that we develop this feeling is by practicing self-care, self-awareness, self-love, and self-acceptance. So it makes sense, that if we don’t invest in ourselves, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually, then we can fall into the trap of feeling unworthy.

This is also true, when you feel undeserving. So you’ve worked hard on reaching a goal or getting promoted at work, but then negative thought enters your mind and you feel that someone else may be more deserving than you. Maybe it’s because another person is already well established, and although you’ve worked hard, you feel that they deserve it more. Please remember that what is for YOU is for YOU. Don’t compare your talents with those around you. If your blessing is a promotion at work, don’t reject the positive and inhale the negative. Yes, your coworker may have been at the job longer than you have, but the promotion is yours, so celebrate that.

Sweetheart, you deserve what is yours. The hopes, dreams and desires of your heart are yours. To remind my clients that they are worthy and deserving, I direct them to create index cards or note cards with words of affirmation, to help shift their thoughts from negative to positive. The phrases you can write are “You are worthy” “You are beautiful” “You are smart” “You are intelligent” “You are prospering” “You are living a life of abundance”.

I leave you with this, if you begin to see these behaviors develop when you face certain situations, please refer to your words of affirmation and let go of the negative thoughts.

Opening Your Mind to Possibilities

Hello friend!

It’s been a while, I know, I know. I missed you all too!

I’m so happy that my absence is due to me building my brand, so it’s actually a good thing.

So any who, I have recently completed a Vision Board Workshop, and it was amazing! Very inspiring, and the feedback from the ladies who attended the workshop was outstanding.

I love learning new things, especially when I’m teaching someone else. Women Empowerment and a Sisterhood Community are extremely powerful.

As I keep the momentum going, I want to create a space on here, where I can give you the tools you need to make “YOUR” 2019 vision come to life! or come to pass as many people say.

Today’s topic is about POSSIBILITIES. 

Going through our day to day schedule, our lives can seem so hectic and busy. So as we try to focus on our vision while balancing life, we can lose our drive or momentum. However, I want you to remember that life is full of possibilities. No matter what your circumstances are now, there is always room for possibilities.

I have learned, that the only thing that limits possibilities is your own mindset. If you are fearful, doubtful, full of negative thoughts, or speaking negativity over your own life, then, yes, you will see limited possibilities.

On the other hand, if you speak life, step out in Faith, step out of your comfort zone, keep pushing towards your goals, and making a positive plan for your dreams and visions, then the possibilities are endless.

Honestly, our only limitation is ourself. If you REALLY want something, then you can achieve it. Will there be work to do? of course! but the result is far more rewarding when you work at it. You will feel accomplished.

So as you read this post today, I want you to write down all the possibilities you have now and in your future. Open your mind to all the possibilities waiting for you. Keep your vision strong and have no limits for yourself, when it comes to living a fulfilled and purposeful life.

Be Strong and Courageous

Hi Lovelies!

As promised, I will finish my story about a supernatural experience I had this past weekend.

This week on Instagram I shared that the current season I’m in involves a lot of changes, including losing a precious family member. We have also experienced a change in my husbands work schedule and my own work schedule. This has resulted in us having to change some things around, especially since our kids are starting school soon.

I mentioned that during seasons like this, it is easy to fill your mind with negative thoughts and feel hopeless, like nothing positive will come out of the current situation you are in.

So I was beginning to think about how things were going to be different, I knew that the only way to find peace, was to look to God. I began to pray even more than before and I began to read encouraging scriptures. I also love retail therapy because I love to shop.

I decided to do some more school shopping for the kids and I had a lot of fun picking out their outfits and picking stuff out for myself of course.

As I waited patiently in line, I started looking through the items on the shelves that lined the waiting area. Stores usually have these so that you will be enticed to buy just one more thing haha.

Waiting there, and being the coffee lover that I am, I started to look through the mugs. One in particular stood out to me (pictured above). The outside of the mug read, ” You are a courageous women.” As I inspected the mug to make my final decision on buying it, the rim of the cup had a scripture and it read, Joshua 1:9 Be strong and courageous…for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

WOW! I jumped for joy inside and my eyes filled with tears. It was just what I needed, without even looking for something inspirational. Never did I doubt that the Lord was with me, but it was just so reassuring to pick the perfect mug for the current season that I’m in.

But wait the story doesn’t end there….

When I got home, I showed my husband all the things that I purchased and when I showed him the mug, he was just as wowed as I was.

The next morning I received a notification from a Bible app I have on my phone. I opened the app and there was a scripture. I began to read the scripture out loud to my husband (Please keep in mind that this is the 1st time I’ve done this). I read it once and then I had to read it again, I’ll admit that I was shocked at 1st. I thought to myself, “Is this really happening?”

Once again I was emotional! the same scripture that was written on the mug was the same scripture notification that I read on my phone the very next day!

This particular app that I have on my phone sends me 1 random scripture daily, at 8 am. I had just downloaded the app 2 weeks before. Out of all the scriptures in the Bible, it sent me the EXACT same one as the one printed on a mug I randomly purchased the day before. This is how I know that the Lord was speaking to me about my current situation.

Joshua 1:9 Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. 

I’m sharing this with you because I want you to be encouraged and do not be afraid. Keep pushing through and live your best life right now.

9 Quick Tips on How to Get Your Kids Ready for School in the Morning

Do you get overwhelmed preparing your kids for the new school year? Do you wonder how you will get them ready in the morning and to school on time? Well these are all things that I’ve been thinking about over the past few weeks, as my kids Summer break comes to an end and a new school year begins.

This year my kids will not be homeschooled (not by my choice), so the adjustment to sending them to public school has been a little challenging. That being said, our school dynamic this year will be different than last year, and it may take some getting used to.

In order to avoid too much chaos for my kids and myself, due to the change, I put together some quick tips to stay organized. That way our mornings will not be stressful and our day, overall, will go by as smoothly as possible.

Here are my tips:

  1. Weekly Outfits (including shoes)-I found that setting the kids clothes out for each day will make mornings a lot easier. I purchased 6 3 drawer utility storage units (2 per child), you’ll find a picture of this below. So the top 5 drawers will be used for their outfits for each day (let the kids decorate their own day of week labels to tape to the front of the drawers) and the last drawer on the bottom will be for their shoes and socks.

2. Make school lunches the night before- Although the school my kids will be going to will provide lunch, I prefer to send them to school with a lunch made from home. So my suggestion is to make your kids lunches the night before and add a little snack just in case they are hungry at recess.

3. Check their backpacks the night before and place them by the front door- From what I can remember, sometimes the teachers will send home forms that need to be completed or a request for items that you child needs to take to school with them the next day. I suggest making sure their homework, school supplies, and any necessary forms are safely tucked away in their backpack. Then place their backpack near the front door so that they can grab it on the way out in the morning.

4. Keep yourself organized also- As for me, I will be getting for work at the same time my kids are getting ready for school, so I will have my outfits set out for the week also. I suggest that, if you do work, that you organize and prepare what you need for the week. If you don’t work out of the home, you can still keep your home work area organized and clean, to be a good example to your kids!

5. Set your morning alarm 15 minutes early- I can honestly say that having those few extra minutes definitely limits stress levels for the whole family.

6. Set a timer- If your kids have a hard time staying on task in the morning you can set an alarm so that they know how much time they have to get ready. I have planned to play gospel music in the morning also, to set the atmosphere for the day and to also keep the kids moving.

7. Have a specific bedtime routine- Many of us know that kids do a lot better if they are on a specific schedule. I suggest having a normal night time routine that calls for an early bedtime, so that your kids get the right amount of sleep. Thankfully I have followed this method even before my kids were school age. We have a specific night routine that consist of bathing, brushing teeth, reading, prayer. This starts at 7:30 pm, and the kids are asleep by 8:30pm.

8. Ban TV before bedtime and in the morning- Too much screen time can cause your child to have a hard time falling asleep. And if they watch TV in the morning, it may slow them down.

9. Simplify breakfast- Choose healthy and quick options that are packed with protein and that they can eat on the go.

5 Ways I Teach Humility to My Children

Hello readers!

Today I wanted to share some information with you about how I teach my children humility. I have seen in today’s times, that many humans (young and old) are very self-centered and unappreciative.

One of my goals as a mother is to teach my children humility. I want them to know their value and the value of others. I also want them to be considerate of others as well as knowing that everything we have is a blessing from God. Here are a few steps that I take with my children:

1. I teach them to be thankful

My children and my spouse and I have been blessed to have several people around us that are very loving and giving. My children get monetary and material gifts pretty often, however, we teach them to always say thank you and we assure them that monetary and material things do not have more value then the family and friends we have around us.

2. I teach them to be apologetic

I have had discussions with my children about being apologetic. As a family of 7, there are plenty of sibling disagreements that we have to work through and sometimes they say things to each other that are not so nice. Our house is a house of love and we do not allow name calling. However, if they do hurt each other’s feelings we have taught them that it is okay to be sorry and genuinely apologetic.

3. I teach them to be helpful

My husband and I help other’s as often as possible. Our children see this and they have naturally learned to be helpful, especially to elderly people. We strongly feel that teaching our children to be helpful will teach them to put someone else’s need before theirs. We are actively looking for charity events in Southern California, that are kid friendly, so that we can participate in helping our community.

4. I teach them to have self-confidence

In a society that is all about appearance, I will be honest and say that instilling self-confidence in my children has been challenging. Of course I always tell them how smart, pretty or handsome, creative, unique, beautiful etc., that they are, but it’s difficult when we are in public and mostly everything they see is about looks, weight and trends. I believe that continually teaching my children that their character is more important than their looks, will help them keep their confidence up.

This is actually one reason I created this blog. I want to empower and encourage people to love themselves inside and out, as I am teaching this to my children also.

5. Lastly, I am patient with my children

Since I want the trait of humility to stay with my children throughout their life, I have learned to be patient and loving. These are little humans that I am raising and basically everything that they are learning is new to them and takes time to learn. Of course sometimes they are not thankful, not as confident, not helpful, and not apologetic, but I keep my patience and remind them that these are traits that we want to have to build good character.

“Life Lately”

Hello Readers!

I know I have been gone for a while, but the reason why is because my baby girl has arrived and I have been transitioning from 4 children to 5. The transition has been going pretty well. The support I have, along with prayer, has really helped me.

When I began this new journey I can admit that I was a little nervous. I was just getting the rest I truly longed for, I was feeling that I was getting a little piece of myself back, and my husband and I could really get back to spending uninterrupted quality time together.

I really did not know how to feel, but once I heard the little heartbeat and felt the little movements in my belly, I couldn’t help but feel so much joy in my heart. From that point forward, I could not wait to meet my baby girl.

Before my baby girl was born, I did not know how my youngest son, 18 months, would accept the new baby. I read so many articles and asked other mothers, who have children 18 months apart, to get some sort of guidance. Above all I prayed that the transition for him and I would not be difficult.

When we brought baby girl home it was the sweetest thing. All my son wanted to do was help, hold, and hug his baby sister. He loves helping and wants her to walk already!

Sibling Love

My life lately has been very busy and one of the greatest rewards I have experienced. Since I’m still on maternity leave from my job, I am enjoying spending time with all my children and cherising these moments. Many times I have caught myself looking at old pictures of my children when they were babies and I’m reminded of the reality of how quickly this time passes.

As I manage this new transition I am also looking at ways to be more present in posting here and on Instagram to keep you all updated with what is going on with me and my family.

Pregnancy Update!

Hi readers!

I’ve missed you all! I’m so sorry that I haven’t posted anything in a while, but my schedule has become so busy lately and I’m trying to reorganize my schedule to make sure that I post more frequently.

So I wanted to update you all on the little growing baby in my belly. She will be here soon and we are so excited. She will be my only Summer baby, so buying stuff for her has been a little different for me. I keep looking for Winter clothing, and then I have to remember that she will be here in the Summer! It has been fun though. I bought her a very cute outfit for her 1st 4th of July on Amazon.com. You can click here to check it out. I have had so much fun shopping for her.

I am now 29 weeks pregnant and baby girl is the size of an Acorn Squash. She is about 15 inches long and roughly 2.5 lbs. Wow!!! she’s plumping up. I’m ready to get a glimpse of her during my 3D/4D Ultrasound in a few weeks.

My Third Trimester Symptoms are:

  • Feeling swollen
  • Tired
  • Mild back aches
  • Nesting-I want everything ready now!
  • Itchy skin as my belly expands more and more
  • excitement and anxiousness
